The "ONLY" Begotten of the Father
I listened to a message last night online that was very refreshing, and really gave the other side of a balance found in the Word of God. See, because of Jesus Christ, I am a "child" of God. I mean, God is literally my "daddy" because the Spirit of Adoption has made me part of the family of God. God moves through my life and blesses me and uses me because He has done a work in my life and made me "family".
The message was wonderful frankly, up to one point. I am not going to give a critique of this message, but I did see the stark mistake that the man of God made as he went one step radically too far and became imbalanced himself on the other side. The Bible or Word of God is a very balanced message from a very balanced God. Truth is truth, and we do not need to take one side or the other side of truth... but take it all together in context. That is the walk of faith of the believer.
We are sons or children of God, yes! But we are not begotten sons, for there is only ONE BEGOTTEN SON of GOD, and HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST! Y'shua Messias is the only Son who was begotten of Yahweh!
Only begotten is from the Greek monogene¯s, which means the "ONLY ONE". It is a mixture of two root words which means the "only one" that has their existence this way. Jesus Christ's existence is UNIQUE, as He literally "came" from Yahweh. He did not become the Son of God. He became the Son of Man when he was born as a human baby unto Mary through the interaction of the Holy Spirit. But He is the eternal Word of God, and came from God, hence was the ONLY BEGOTTEN from GOD.
He is the only one who came into existence as a Son of God this way, for He is God.
THE ORIGINAL SIN OF MAN is the pride of life seen in the woman in the garden when she "wanted to be like God" in a way that God did not wish. The sad truth is that she and her husband were much more like God before they sinned and at the forbidden fruit than afterward. God knew good and evil one way, but they learned of it through corrupting themselves and experiencing evil which brought sin, shame, and the curse and death. Whenever we get imbalanced too far, it seems that this false teaching of becoming "a god" ourselves rises up. There are a number of false religious groups and cults that have as one of their root teachings that Jesus became the Son of God at the resurrection and that we will too when we are resurrected, so you have a number of "gods". The Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses both teach this multiple god heresy. In fact, Mormons believe that there are many gods, and their ideas about where we come from and where Jesus really came from and who He is in relationship to Satan is bizarre. We will NOT all become gods at the resurrection! That is going back to the original sin of pride.
I am a child of God through God's grace! I am adopted and both a child and friend of God because He has declared me so and adopted me by His Spirit and the blood of Jesus Christ. But you and I ARE NOT the eternal Word of God as Jesus is, and we never will be. To say that we are now the begotten of the Father is not being truthful and honest to what God's Word teaches. Truth is truth, and God's Word is truth. We NEVER need to REWRITE what God says to pad our own pet doctrine! This is a NEW AGE idea that has crept into the church, but it is the OLDEST LIE in the BOOK!
Its all about Jesus Christ and who that HE is in our lives, and not who that we are. It isn't all about me or you, but its about Jesus Christ!
We are empowered to become the children of God. That is awesome! I am God's child. My natural father passed away in 1987, but I still have a dad, and He is there for me and has time for me and because I am a son of His, I am going to overcome and make it and will be used of God. It is my position as God's adopted son that gives me eternal life and allows me to flow in His will and in His love and in His power!
Romans 8:15-16 (KJV) " 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: "
Galatians 4:4-7 (KJV) " 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. "
1 Peter 2:9-10 (KJV) " 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. "
We, who were under the condemnation and wrath of God through our sin, have become the people of God - a Royal Priesthood; a separated people who are to show the praises of God for He has translated us out of the darkness into His light!
I think that the confusion comes sometimes by taking what Hebrews 1:5-6 says about Jesus being the first begotten in the KJV meaning the "first born" of all creation. We are according to 1 Peter 1:3 begotten again, which means born again. But these are not the same Greek words that you find in John 1. It isn't just the first born, but it is the unique born that comes from God. The angels in the Old Testament are said to be the B'ene ha Elohim or sons of God. They are called that because they were not birthed as you and I are, but God literally created them. They are created beings. But the text in Hebrews 1:5-6 lets us know really fast that God never said this about the angels, that Jesus Christ as the Eternal Word of God is the first begotten of all creation. Hebrews 1:5-6 (KJV) " 5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. "
Adam was a son of God in the same way as he was a created being. He was a son of God in the same way that the angels were. We become the children of God through adoption because of Jesus Christ! But we are not the unique only begotten from the Father either.
We are adopted by the Spirit of God and chosen by God to become sons and daughters of God, but JESUS CHRIST is God's unique Son and literally a part of Him literally. In fact, it is our understanding that and faith in Him that brings us into sonship.
1. People either feel unworthy to be blessed of God and are under this bondage of tradition and legalism. It isn't that they turn and rely on God to be righteous, but they think that they have to be righteous on their own to be accepted by God. It is backwards.
2. Or, they think too highly of themselves and start thinking that we really are little gods. They think that they are not just born of the Spirit, but they are begotten as in coming from God also just like Jesus and Jesus is brought down to our level as we elevate ourselves in pride up to godhood. It is blasphemy actually.
We are to walk worthy of our call, and we are to watch and pray always so that we can be accounted "worthy" to escape all these things coming on the Earth in Tribulation and to stand before the Son of Man. But watching and praying and walking in the Spirit comes from our relationship with God first. It is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that comes from us having Jesus in our lives and submitting to Him that brings the fruit of the Spirit and allows us to be worthy. In the end, it is God's work in us that brings any good and makes us worthy at all. It is all about Jesus Christ! This is the balance that is given to us by God in His Word.

He gives us POWER to become the SONS or CHILDREN OF GOD when we have faith in Him! We believe Him and HE empowers us to become the children of God, but the whole point is that this works because we understand and believe that HE is the Eternal Word or LOGOS of God who became flesh, and is the ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER! It is about Jesus and faith in Him that brings us into "sonship". The very word Only Begotten shows that His place is unique, and it is that wonderful unique Son of God that gives us the power to be translated out of darkness into His marvelous light.

PEOPLE MESS UP BY BECOMING IMBALANCED in their ideas of who they are in God. They either fail to recognize that we are children of God, and God is doing a work in our lives because we have become the children of God, or they get on a "God-Trip" thinking that we are somehow equal to Jesus Christ and somehow begotten of the Father also. The first group either tries to get you to feel bad about yourself trying to work your way into being worthy enough in God's eyes to be acceptable as a son or daughter, or pushes legalistic traditions that puts you into bondage again to fear. But the other group is possibly worse, as they on a "God-Trip" and take a few passages out of context and become arrogant in their own eyes. They think that somehow they are equal to Jesus Christ.
When Jesus said that "you call yourselves gods", it was NOT a compliment folks. His words were cutting because of their hypocrisy, and we do not need to build a false religion on this passage alone ignoring the rest of God's Word that shows that we are all lost and damned and worthy of Hell except for God's grace! We are joint heirs with Christ, and because of His love and grace, we will have part of that inheritance of the Kingdom, but JESUS CHRIST IS THE KING - NOT US! We are a part of the Kingdom of God, but it is God's Kingdom- in other words, Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and He is to be honored that way!

It is FAITH IN THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD - JESUS CHRIST - that connects us to the True Vine and allows the Spirit to do a work in us and make us right and make us worthy and do the works of God through us. It is all about Jesus Christ, the ONLY BEGOTTEN of the FATHER, tha makes us sons of God!

This was good teaching brother.......
I have never been able to understand how people try to revise scriptures to suit what they want it to say.....
I had a gay friend once, and he used the same scriptures for his lifestyle that the Bible teaches it is wrong......he says it is interpreted wrongly........
I honestly think that when God looks upon His creation, He wants to vomit........
